Petaling Jaya, November, 2006 - 8TV makes history once again when its cutting edge and fresh marketing and promotion styles received two 2006 Silver Promax Asia Awards for Funniest Spot and Best Public Service Announcement.
The Asia Promax Award recognizes excellence through its eminent series of awards for outstanding promotions and marketing in electronic media and of creative professionals in motion graphics respectively.
This year, the regional awards presented the 8TV Creative team in Media Prima''s CSD (Creative Services Division) the Silver Awards in a ceremony held in Singapore on November 9th (Thursday).
Produced in time for the Chinese New Year, the Silver winning promotional spot "Master Wong'' revolves around 8TV heroes rallying their powers to eliminate a villain from ruining the festivities. The important lesson behind the story pointed out how good has always triumphed over evil.
Despite minimal budget, the ''Funniest Spot'' creatively highlights auspicious wishes for the New Year from the eight corners of the world, infusing the station''s name reminding viewers that 8TV is the station that offers the best Chinese entertainment during the festivities.
Partnering with NGO Women''s Aid Association, advertising agency DDBi and audio house Betarecs, ''It''s Time We Took Sex Education Seriously'' spot won the Silver awards in the Best Public Service Announcement Category, for its effective key message promoting awareness of public social issues, social action and community service announcements made for television broadcast.
Despite its young age, 8TV has shown continuous impressive accomplishments with its new direction and marketing approach promoting their top-rate shows to their expanding Malaysian viewers.
"8TV is a place where we encourage creativity and innovation, and where we will always try to improve ourselves with the ultimate goal of being world-class. And the Promax win is an indication that we are on the right direction. My warmest and most excited congratulations to our creative team headed by Peter Chin", declared 8TV Chief Executive Officer, Encik Ahmad Izham Omar.
Izham also expressed his delight with 8TV''s CSD Team''s ability to blend elements of fun and humor, and at the same time managing to capture the grounded traditional Chinese values in the promotional spot.
Victory was even sweeter as 8TV''s promotional spots were unanimously chosen by the Promax Asia''s panel of judges for its originality and creativity, having managed to outshine the rest of the nominations in the tough category from countries within the region.
Peter Chin, Creative Director/GGM of Media Prima Creative Services Division had only positive words for his team members, "I''m really proud of the team for constantly challenging and testing their limits by moving beyond the regional benchmarks in areas of technical competency and creative campaigns."
"We always believe that working together is better than using just one head with limited plans. Bouncing off great ideas, stretching our boundaries, brainstorming and sharing the creativity process together are the things that get us on the adrenaline rush."
8TV also received two Silver awards and the coveted Promo Challenge Trophy at the ASIA/BDA Awards in 2004.
