Petaling Jaya, 15 September 2006 - One In A Million, the nation's biggest talent-search reality show, enters its most crucial phase after series of gruelling audition sessions and rounds of eliminations. Only one more episode after tonight and we will have our first One In A Million winner comes September 22.
After Farah much-awaited departure from the competition last week, the intense battle remains between Alif, Dayang, Faizal and Suki who apparently are grappling with their own sets of struggles and strategies in order to emerge as the RM1 Million winner.
Last week saw Dayang and Alif falling to Bottom 3 due to the low number of votes received. Will Dayang strike back after her much rousing performances last week or will Alif be the next in line to go?
Things are not as rosy for Suki and Faizal either as each received lukewarm responses from the panel of judges after their own songs' renditions.
How will each finalists fare tonight because only Top 3 Finalists will advance to the next round.
"We've come a long way beginning with the audition days back in April and going through rounds of eliminations for the past 2 months. And now we are down to 3 finalists! I'm super excited that we will finally crown our winner seven days away from tonight," said 8TV Chief Executive Officer, Encik Ahmad Izham Omar.
"The judges have been really tough in delivering their comments and feedback for the past few weeks because they recognized the intensity of the competition while looking out for the finalists' best interests at the same time. We all want the most deserving contestant to win, and in order to find our RM1Million winner, we have to 'push' and give them something that they will think and improve on."
Tonight's episode will be the last show broadcasted LIVE from Sri Pentas 2 before we move to PWTC for the Grand Finale Episode on September 22. Appropriately titled "Road to the Finals", this week's episode features each contestant singing two of their chosen songs.
After last week's energetic 'brotherly' collaboration with Reshmonu, Alif will be singing Revolvers' "Namunku Punya Hati" and Backstreet Boys' "The Call" during tonight's episode. Proving that a versatile singer must have originality and capable carrying high and low notes, song-siren, Dayang Nurfaizah will have to cash in on Kris Dayanti's "Mencintaimu" and Mariah Carey's "We Belong Together" to win back her fans' votes.
Can Faizal finally stage his much-needed 'comeback' tonight after last week's mediocre performances? The answer will only be known after he performs the heart-wrenching "Kenangan Terindah" by Samsons and "Save Me" from the band, Remy Zero, ironically also happens to be the brilliant theme song from teenage-Superman hit series, "Smallville".
Last but not least, can Suki retain her momentum and see herself in the finals singing Avril Lavigne's "Losing Grip", who is also her idol followed with Siti Nurhaliza's "Seindah Biasa"?
Following the Top 3 episode's conclusion, the voting lines will be opened so audience and viewers can start casting their votes until the next episode goes on air. To ensure a fair and uninterrupted voting process, 8TV has set up multiple channels in both English and Bahasa Malaysia. Votes can be made via SMS or fixed phone lines.
If you are rooting for your favourite contestant, you can cast SMS votes to 32728 with the message IN "name" or MASUK "name" or DIAL 13725 and follow instructions. To vote for the contestant who seems to have the least potential in each episode, 8TV viewers can send their SMS votes to 32728 with the message OUT "name" or KELUAR "name". They can also DIAL 13726 to pick their choice of the week.
